About

Hi, I'm David

I'm an epidemiologist with a background that spans social sciences, IT, and public health. Curiousity is what drives me. Versatility is my greatest strength.I love untangling complex problems, whether that's making sense of messy datasets or finding the red thread hidden in a body of research. I'm based in Perth, Australia, but work with organisations anywhere.I founded EpiNaut to provide flexible epidemiological and public health research support — from one-off projects to ongoing research partnerships — for organisations of all sizes.

Services for Health and Wellness Organisations

Research credibility without the research department.

For health-focused organisations, advocacy groups, and not-for-profits who want to be evidence-informed — without the overhead of building an in-house research team.

What I offer

  • Research Intelligence Briefings
Stay across the evidence that matters to your organisation. I provide regular, tailored briefings that translate the latest research into plain-language summaries you can actually use — whether for internal strategy, stakeholder communications, or thought leadership.

  • Health Data Dashboards
Track the trends that matter to your mission. I build interactive dashboards that visualise health data relevant to your domain — helping you monitor progress, spot patterns, and communicate impact clearly.

Data Intelligence in Action

Your data, made visible – and kept current

Static reports and spreadsheets only take you so far. Interactive dashboards let your team — and your stakeholders — explore the evidence directly, ask their own questions, and stay informed as the landscape evolves. These are tools I've built for real projects. Some are updated automatically as new data is released; others grow as new evidence is published. Each one is live and fully interactive — click through to explore them yourself.

Meta Analysis Exploration Tool

An interactive companion to a systematic literature review of influenza vaccine effectiveness. Filter and explore pooled estimates across populations, settings, virus types and 17 influenza seasons — designed to grow as new studies are published.

Influenza Surveillance Dashboard

Bespoke influenza surveillance monitoring for clinical trial sites. Tracks seasonal ILI trends, positivity rates, key indicators and alerts — refreshed automatically each week with the latest available data.

Shark Risk Evidence Base

Evidence-based context about shark incidents in Western Australia. Explore patterns, risk factors, and the gap between media narrative and data — with new evidence and insights integrated as they emerge.

Let's talk about your data intelligence project

Have data that deserves a better format — or need the right data found and brought together in the first place?Whether it's your own datasets, publicly available sources, or a combination of both, I can build a tailored dashboard or living tool that keeps your evidence base accessible and current.Let's talk about what would be most useful for your work.
